Now that you know the memory palace technique, we can talk about our favorite techniques to use for speed cards. Remember, use what works best for you!
Technique #1: Associate a person with each of the 52 cards that are in a standard deck. You should keep these people constant (meaning, if you use your mom as the 4 of clubs once, she should always remain the 4 of clubs.( Sometimes, it helps to create categories for each of the suits: for example, all of the hearts cards could be your family members, all the diamonds could be your friends, all the clubs could be your teachers, and all the spades could be Star Wars characters. (Yes, you can use fictional people/characters as well! And pets are totally okay too.) Once you have all your people memorized (unfortunately, there isn't a quick and easy technique to commit this to your long-term memory!), you can start memorizing cards! Place the person associated with the first card in your first "anchor" or "position" in your memory palace. Then place the second person, who is associated with the second card, in the second "anchor" or "position" and so on until you've placed all your people!
Technique #2: If memorizing 52 people doesn't work for you, maybe try memorizing only 13! Associate each number with a person, and associate each suit with an action. Then, go around placing people throughout your memory palace, just like in Technique #1, except envision them performing that action as well! (For example, if my first card is the queen of clubs, I picture my mom smashing a club into my bookshelf, which is my first anchor.)
